What should I know when choosing a UPS?

One has to take into consideration the energy consumption of the equipment that you want to connect to the UPS. It is also important to consider what kind of protection you require besides battery back up protection. Forza’s CL and SL series offer surge suppression and AVR functions, while other brands only offer the battery back up function in their UPS. If you require a transfer time of zero (time it takes the UPS to power the connected equipment once the energy goes out), then you should be looking for an online UPS, which would be the Forza Elipse series. Typically, online UPSs are used for high end servers and other critical equipment.

What certifications does Forza possess?

Forza Power Technologies is ISO:9001 certified for manufacturing quality and ISO:14001 certified for environmental awareness. Our products also have international certifications such as: UL, CE, TUV, and NOM. Please download the complete specifications to find more information on which certification each product has.

Why is the fan for the 1000VA UPS constantly running?

The SL 1000VA model is a high end UPS with two internal batteries that requires a built in fan. When the UPS is connected to the wall power outlet, the fan will keep functioning even though the UPS itself might be turned off. The UPS was designed this way to prevent any overheating of the unit and for general safety reasons.

What operating systems are compatible with Forza’s monitoring software Win Power?

Forza’s Winpower is compatible with Windows Vista/XP/ME/2000/98/95, Linux, MAC, Unix, Sun Solaris, IBM Aix, and HP-UX

What are the different topologies for UPSs?

The most common ones are: Line interactive and online.

You will also hear of a stand-by technology which is very similar to the line interactive except it does not provide AVR protection. We do not sell Stand-by UPS products, because we believe that our UPSs should provide AVR protection as well.

What is a power surge?

A power surge, power spike is a brief increase in voltage that often lasts less than a millisecond. These small spikes can be the result of a nearby lighting strike, or a power generator failure.
